Following the success of our original Dear Heroes projection during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mater Hospital invited us to bring the installation back for the holiday season. This special edition aimed to share messages of support, love, and festive cheer with patients and staff spending Christmas and New Year in the hospital. I was responsible for building the full digital pipeline for collecting and displaying the messages. This included developing a public-facing web form where people could submit their messages, a secure moderation interface to review and approve submissions, and a custom Processing-based display application that pulled approved content from the database and rendered it for projection onto the hospital façade. The result was a meaningful and community-driven installation that lit up the side of the Mater Hospital each night with warm, personal messages—offering comfort and connection during a time when many were apart from loved ones.
