As part of a large-scale winter activation at Kildare Village, we developed a multi-part immersive experience combining interactivity, projection mapping, and lighting design. The centrepiece was a vast “field of light” installation featuring over 10,000 individually controlled RGB bulbs arranged in a precise grid.
At the edge of the field, we installed a large interactive touchscreen display powered by Unreal Engine. Visitors could use a custom-designed 2D map interface to draw patterns in real time, which were instantly visualised across the light field in front of them. Every 30 minutes, the field also performed a programmed light show synced to music, creating a captivating spectacle for passersby.
Beyond the main installation, we projection-mapped several building facades within the shopping village, showcasing colourful, animated 3D content that added a festive and imaginative layer to the environment.
I contributed across nearly every aspect of the project: creating character and clothing animations for the projections, helping design the Unreal Engine UI, assisting with building mapping, setting up projection towers, and physically placing and later removing thousands of light bulbs on-site. It was a highly collaborative, hands-on project that brought art, tech, and public space together at scale.
