At the start of the COVID-19 lockdown, with live events and festivals on hold, Algorithm Productions launched a heartfelt initiative to uplift frontline healthcare workers. The project invited the public to submit messages of support, which were then projected onto the side of the Mater Hospital in Dublin as a nightly display of solidarity and gratitude.
I developed the web platform that allowed users to submit their names and messages via an online form. These submissions were stored in a database and displayed through a custom Processing application built by myself and the team, which rendered the messages in a large, legible format suitable for projection onto the hospital façade.
A key challenge was moderating submissions to ensure the integrity of the messages. To solve this, I created an internal moderation interface where messages could be reviewed and approved before going live. The project was featured widely and served as a powerful reminder of community spirit during an uncertain time.
